Dancin' Outlaws Stick Pelicans with 5-1 Loss
|
The West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws stymied the St. Petersburg Pelicans, 5-1, at Penlee Park. Joe Thorington, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles for West Virginia. The win was credited to Francisco Palazuelos in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Brad Leys took the loss. West Virginia is third in the Donnie Moore League Dusty Baker Division with a record of 78-73.
One significant at-bat for West Virginia came with a runner on 1st in the bottom of the third. Dancin' Outlaws third baseman Mitsunori Nauert hit a run-scoring single, which helped West Virginia go on to win.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Thorington told the West Virginia Herald.
