Panthers Suffer 5-3 Loss to Blue Claws
Charleston catcher David Giese had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Giese went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, even as Baltimore beat the Panthers, 5-3. Giese was named the player of the game despite the loss. Henry Baker, the winner, improved to 1-1. He held Charleston to 1 earned run on 3 hits over 5.1 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. The save went to Shu-de Tian, his 20th this season.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Blue Claws grabbed the lead when Adam Kemp rapped a two-out single. Baltimore was trailing 1-0, when Kemp hit a 2-run single off Francisco Flores to put his team in front, 2-1.

"Good win for us," said Kemp. "Now we'll focus on the next one."

The win puts the Blue Claws at 94-59, while the Panthers drop to 79-74.
