Gnats Walk It Off for 44th Win of Season

The Nichols-San Angelo game took longer to complete because of the rain. But it was worth it for the home team in the end.
San Angelo wasted a solid 6-inning effort from starting pitcher Magyver McKenzie, losing to Nichols, 2-1, at The Pond. Nichols, now 44-108, holds last place in the Lyman Bostock League Earl Weaver Division.
Jesus Mojica found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the ninth. Facing San Angelo hurler Dan Garcia, the 20-year-old shortstop hit a sacrifice fly. His 10th RBI of the season put the Gnats on top, 2-1.
"This place was rockin'," said Mojica.
