The New Orleans Jedi Knights topped the Nichols Gnats, 7-5, with designated hitter Abraham Merez playing a big role. Merez went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Jedi Knights in the win. Rich Owen, credited with the win, is now 2-3. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. Jason Ball closed it out for his 6th save.

Tied up with the Gnats in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Jedi Knights got a boost from third baseman Jesse Sutton. With the bases loaded, Sutton saw a 1-2 slider from Ruben Abreu and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put New Orleans on top, 6-5.

"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Merez told the New Orleans Chronicle.
