It was a good time at Billy Mathews Field, where fans came to watch the Stroudsburg Shade and St. Petersburg Pelicans get after it.
Kevin Bongarzone pitched a gem to lead St. Petersburg to a 4-1 victory over the Stroudsburg Shade. The win puts the Pelicans at 55-92, while the Shade drop to 62-85.
Parking one for St. Petersburg was Adrian Sparks. The second baseman had a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fourth for the Pelicans. It put his team ahead, 2-0, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Sparks was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Wish we'd had more wins to celebrate like this one," said Sparks.
