Aloha Stadium was the site of a tense game between the Hawaii Islanders and Havana Stogies.
In a low-scoring game between Havana and Hawaii, pitcher Joe Hardy was excellent. The Havana left-hander was named the player of the game in Havana's 2-1 win. Teguh Suharto nailed down his 25th save.
Hardy earned the win, going 8 strong innings for Havana. The left-hander allowed just 3 hits, while striking out 9. Hawaii hitters had little success against him.
"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Hardy told the Havana Daily.
The Stogies improved to a lofty 47-19.
