Pelicans Walk It Off for 53rd Win of Season
People near Billy Mathews Field no doubt heard the roar of the crowd as the winning run crossed the plate.

The St. Petersburg Pelicans downed the Coney Island Cyclones, 5-4, in 10 innings. Jody Fread led the way, going 2-for-4 for St. Petersburg. St. Petersburg reliever Jaiden Harris picked up the win, upping his record to 4-6. Joe Schrock took the loss.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when St. Petersburg first baseman Zach Varn, facing Joe Schrock, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Pelicans the 5-4 win.

"We need to get rid of the bad mojo," said Varn. "Maybe this win will help."

The Pelicans' win now puts them at 53-90.
