Emeralds Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|
The Winfield Warriors got a superb performance from designated hitter Tomoshi Tanaka. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Eugene. The Emeralds won the game, 7-5. In spite of the loss, Tanaka was named the player of the game. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win was Jesús Ordóńez's in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Danny Reliford took the loss for Winfield. Picking up the save was Hiroo Okimura, his 8th.
Eugene took a 7-5 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With two out, right fielder António Román hit a 3-run home run that brought the crowd to its feet.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Eugene manager Tom Becker.
The 5th-place Emeralds now have a 4-game winning streak.
