Charleston Makes It 9 Straight with 8-3 Win
|
The Panthers faced a stiff challenge from Bel Air pitcher Eddy Gil, but persevered to claim a win at Philip Banks Field. The final score was 8-3. Gil went 5.1 innings and allowed no earned runs. Charleston reliever Raúl Garza picked up the win, bumping his record to 8-3. Shayne Cluff was collared with the loss. Charleston has now won 9 games in a row.
Late-game drama came in the top of the tenth inning. With two out and the bases loaded, the batter, Scott Tuff, hit a bases-clearing double. It helped Charleston seize the win.
"We'll keep riding this wave as long as we can," said Panthers manager Ánibal Machado.
