Losing Streak Continues for Pelicans with 6-5 Loss to Cyclones
|
Despite a great performance by St. Petersburg center fielder Omar Mora, the Coney Island Cyclones defeated the Pelicans by the score of 6-5 at Billy Mathews Field. Mora was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Coney Island reliever Takamasa Oki picked up the win, upping his record to 5-2. Brad Leys was saddled with the loss. Steve Misiak earned the save for Coney Island, his 4th of the year.
The Cyclones got a big at-bat from center fielder Steve Woods, who in the top of the seventh hit a run-scoring single. It was his 97th hit of the season and put the Cyclones on top, 5-3.
"We're in a funk right now," said St. Petersburg skipper Clement Snow.
The losses continue to pile up for St. Petersburg, which has now fallen 11 times in a row.
