Frosties Come Up Short at San Angelo
|
San Angelo left-hander Joe Kearns helped his team edge Barrow by the score of 2-1. Kearns kept the opposing lineup in check. Kearns went 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 4-2. With the win, the Mustangs have a record of 80-57.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the fourth inning when the Mustangs sent teenager Francisco Enriquez to the plate against Frosties hurler Ryuya Kondo. With runners on 1st and 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 3-1 fastball to score 1.
"We were in it," said Barrow manager Corey Conway. "We just didn't score enough runs."
