The Boise Bloodhounds got a sterling performance from third baseman Kevin McVey, but the Emeralds still prevailed, 6-5. McVey was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Eugene is now 64-75, Boise 38-100.
Fred Gagg found himself in a pressure situation in the top of the tenth. Facing Boise hurler Pat Meskill, the 21-year-old first baseman drew a walk, driving in 1 run. His 19th walk of the season put the Emeralds on top, 5-4.
