Blue Claws Hang 3-2 Loss on Warriors
|
The bats were silent much of the day at The Barn. But Graham Armstrong conjured up just enough offense to carry the Blue Claws past the Winfield Warriors, 3-2. Armstrong went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. Lynn Clark picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Luis Navarro was tagged with the loss. The Blue Claws have an impressive 85-54 record.
In a game filled with surprises, perhaps none was as big as Armstrong's contribution. The Baltimore catcher is a relative newcomer. With no one out in the top of the seventh, when the Blue Claws had runners on 1st and 2nd, Armstrong delivered a crucial run-scoring single.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Baltimore manager Bernard Jacq said.
