Houston pitcher Javier Martínez did his part in helping his team beat the Palm Beach Bums, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The winning pitcher was Martínez, now 10-3. He tossed 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Jerry Hughes.
Parking one for Houston was Jose Rendon. The catcher had a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth for the Sting. It put his team ahead, 3-1, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Rendon was 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
