The Warriors had to overcome a good performance from Chippewa pitcher Don Wheeler to claim a 4-3 win at The Reservation. Wheeler went 6 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Reliever Luis Navarro picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Eddie Zuniga took the loss. Johnny Gonzalez nailed down his 1st save.

The most critical at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning. With one out, T.J. Little hit a 3-1 sinker from Eddie Zuniga for a run-scoring single. It put Winfield in front, 4-3.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Chippewa skipper Bruce Leah, "and it cost us."

With the win, the Warriors improved to 67-68.
