Sting Down Bloodhounds, 7-0
|
Boise had no answer for Houston Sting starter Alejandro Reyes, who flummoxed Bloodhounds hitters as the Sting cruised to a 7-0 victory. Reyes, now 2-2, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing no earned runs. Jerry Hughes, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.
The Sting got a big at-bat from catcher Jose Rendon. For the game, Rendon was 2-5 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 2nd double of the season gave Houston a 2-0 lead.
"Alejandro is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Houston manager Héctor Flores.
The Sting, at 63-66, sit in 4th place in the Donnie Moore League Tommy Lasorda Division.
