Right-hander Francisco Vargo mesmerized the Eugene Emeralds while leading the Bethesda Hornets to a 5-0 victory. Bethesda reliever Gabriel Martínez got the win, raising his record to 8-14. Chuck Easton was tagged with the loss. At 64-63, Bethesda is in third place in the Donnie Moore League Tommy Lasorda Division.

Miguel Hernández's at-bat in the bottom of the seventh was significant, coming with the bases loaded and the game tied, 0-0. The Bethesda right fielder hit a run-scoring single off Jesús Ordóñez to put the Hornets up.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Bethesda manager Francisco Solano. "Our pregame was pretty good."
