Losing Streak Continues for Sting with 8-5 Loss to Black Squirrels
|
The Houston Sting extended their losing streak with a loss to the Tree City Black Squirrels.
The Tree City Black Squirrels relied on the hitting of center fielder Nacho Cruz to stop the Houston Sting, 8-5. For the game, Cruz went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Jeff Spracklin was the winner. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, with 5 walks and 3 strikeouts.
Doing his part for Tree City was left fielder Dennis Perry, who stroked a 2-run single in the top of the first. For the game, Perry went 1 for 3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
"Everyone's kind of edgy right now," said losing manager Héctor Flores, "but nothing a couple of wins wouldn't cure."
Houston is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 8 in a row.
