The bats were silent much of the day at Stable Park. But José Martínez conjured up just enough offense to carry the Knights past the Coney Island Cyclones, 3-1. Martínez was 2 for 4 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The win was Steve Vincent's in relief. His record improves to 4-3. Randy Lynn took the loss for Coney Island. With the win, Kingwood has a record of 57-65. Coney Island falls to 52-69.
In the first inning, Martínez had a run-scoring triple for Kingwood. It was his 4th triple of the season and put the Knights on top, 1-0.
"We didn't string enough hits together to win the game," said tight-lipped Coney Island manager Gerald Pugh. "Obviously."
