Narrow Win Takes Chippewa Streak to 8
|
The Chippewa River Chiefs sent the home crowd home smiling from The Reservation.
The Chippewa River Chiefs had to overcome a big game from Charleston catcher Raul Padilla to leave The Reservation with a 7-6 victory. Padilla was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI. Chippewa reliever Brad Ide picked up the win to move to 5-4. Naozane Kato suffered the loss.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 6-6, right fielder Bob Nisbet won it for Chippewa. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Nisbet hit a 2-2 fastball from Naozane Kato for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 7-6 win.
"We're just feeding off each other right now," said Nisbet.
The Panthers, now 53-62, have lost 5 straight.
