Bombers Come Back Late to Clip Pioneers
|
South Carolina beat Vancouver on the strength of starter Prince Percival Papenfuss's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 3-1 win. Getting the save was Si-hun Park, his 5th. South Carolina is second in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division with a record of 35-25.
Runs were at a premium. So, Alexander Beck's at-bat with two out in the top of the eighth was crucial. The South Carolina shortstop hit a 2-run single, to give his team a 3-1 lead.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Papenfuss said.
