Nichols Gnats starter Ruben Abreu was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Winfield Warriors, 6-3. The Gnats sit in 5th place in the Lyman Bostock League Earl Weaver Division with a record of 34-81.
Nichols catcher Jasper Francis helped the Gnats to the win. In the top of the fifth inning, the 23-year old catcher stroked a 2-run home run. For the game, Francis went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Gnats manager Reese O'Higgins. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
