Late Rally Gets Win for Princes
|
The Bel Air Princes wiggled past the Eugene Emeralds, 5-4, at Prefontaine Park. Bel Air pitcher Luis Silva earned player of the game honors. Bel Air reliever Toru Saito picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-8. Chuck Easton was collared with the loss. Bel Air goes to 45-67, Eugene to 49-64.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Jose Chaves came to bat in the top of the 13th. Facing Eugene pitcher Chuck Easton, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Bel Air on top, 5-4.
"Big win," said Silva.
