Gero gets 3 RBI in Black Squirrels Win
|
The Tree City Black Squirrels easily defeated the Bethesda Hornets, 12-4, at Hornets Field, with third baseman John Gero a main contributor to the win. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for Tree City. Ryan Davis picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 2 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 13-5. Esteban Ruíz was credited with the save for Tree City, his 5th of the season.
Tree City grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Gero, who is tied for 4th in the AHL in RBI with 72, hit a 3-run home run. His 16th home run of the season put the Black Squirrels out in front, 5-2.
"This is not a one-man show," said Gero. "A lot of the guys stepped up."
The Black Squirrels move to 71-42 with the win, while the Hornets drop to 56-59.
