The Winfield Warriors grabbed a 4-2 win over the Kingwood Knights at The Barn. Winfield third baseman Josh Maillard was 3-4 with 3 singles to earn player of the game honors. Winfield reliever Mike Mitchell picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Steve Vincent absorbed the loss. David Williams notched his 1st save in 1 chances.
Winfield took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With no one out, pinch hitter Mark Holliday hit a solo home run that electrified the crowd.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Maillard told the Winfield Citizen. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
Winfield now sits in 4th place in the Lyman Bostock League Earl Weaver Division at 57-55.
