Dancin' Outlaws Top Sting, 11-3
|
The West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws topped the Houston Sting by the score of 11-3, with the largest share of the credit going to left fielder Joe Thorington. Thorington went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Dancin' Outlaws. West Virginia reliever Júlio Gonzáles picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Alberto Rafael took the loss. At 54-56, the Dancin' Outlaws find themselves in third place in the Donnie Moore League Dusty Baker Division.
Thorington in the bottom of the first had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and the Dancin' Outlaws leading 4-0, he hit a grand slam.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Thorington told the West Virginia Herald. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
