Vikings Bump Off River Chiefs, 6-4
|
The Victoria Vikings defeated the Chippewa River Chiefs, 6-4, in Lyman Bostock League action at The Reservation, with Victoria second baseman Devin West named player of the game. Victoria reliever Andy Dasher picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-2. Zak Osborn was collared with the loss. Gang Niu picked up the save, his 31st.
West had a game-changing single in the top of the seventh. On a 0-1 fastball from Zak Osborn, he banged a run-scoring single to center, giving the Vikings a 5-4 lead. It was the 29th hit of the year for West.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said West.
The Vikings move to 67-41 with the win, while the River Chiefs drop to 62-43.
