Benefiting from Mark Southland's productive game, the Tree City Black Squirrels downed the Stroudsburg Shade, 11-5. Southland was 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Black Squirrels. Rudy Cortez earned the save for Tree City, his 2nd of the year. The first-place Black Squirrels, at 64-39, now lead their division by 2 games.
Dennis Perry, who is tied for 10th in the AHL in bases on balls with 55, aided the Tree City cause with a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth. For the game, the left fielder was 2-5 with a double. He drove in 4 runs.
In postgame comments to the Tree City Daily, Perry said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
