Big Day for Munoz as Bums Down Jedi Knights, 9-4
|
The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements at Envoys Ballpark enjoyed themselves.
With third baseman Jerry Munoz leading the charge, the Palm Beach Bums defeated the New Orleans Jedi Knights, 9-4, at Envoys Ballpark. Munoz, who is tied for 9th in the AHL with a .305 batting average, went 4-5 with a triple and 3 singles, while scoring 4 runs. Reliever Pedro Cerna picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Douggie Gimson took the loss. Dennis Horning notched his 1st save in 2 chances.
Munoz had a key at-bat for Palm Beach early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a run-scoring triple. It was his 6th triple of the season and gave Palm Beach an early 1-0 lead.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said Munoz.
Palm Beach is now 44-60, while New Orleans is 62-40.
