Corkum Excels, Barrow Blows Out Boise
|
The Barrow Frosties downed the Boise Bloodhounds, 14-3, at The Blizzard Bowl. Bill Corkum led the way, going 3-for-6 for Barrow. Guglielmo Tomei, the winner, improved to 10-5. He held Boise to 2 earned runs on 3 hits over 5.1 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts. Boise has now lost 5 in a row.
Dave Turner was one of the major contributors to the win for Barrow. The light-hitting left fielder stroked a single to center in the bottom of the second inning. For the day, he went 3 for 5 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Turner told the Barrow Gazette. "You win just by scoring more runs."
