Panthers Come Back Late, Nip Black Squirrels
|
The Charleston Panthers scored a 3-2 win versus the Tree City Black Squirrels at The Nut House. Charleston pitcher Steve Gould nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Charleston reliever Naozane Kato picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Nathan Briggs was collared with the loss. The Panthers' win now puts them at 49-53.
Had Scott Tuff not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases empty, Tuff hit a solo home run. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Panthers.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Tuff, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
