Panthers Come Back Late, Nip Road Warriors
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Charleston Panthers eventually prevailed at Franklin Mountains Field.
The Charleston Panthers turned back the Westside Road Warriors, 8-7, at Franklin Mountains Field. Eric Daniels was named player of the game for his fine performance. He went 3-3 with 3 doubles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. Charleston reliever Bill Poulin picked up the win to move to 3-2. Roger Day suffered the loss. Naozane Kato picked up the save for Charleston, his 5th of the year.
Hua Dun provided some late-game heroics for Charleston. In the bottom of the eighth inning, he hit a run-scoring single. It came on a first pitch cutter from Roger Day and propelled Charleston to a 8-7 lead.
"There's still time to turn this season around," said Daniels.
The third-place Panthers now have a win-loss record of 48-52.
