Vikings Saddle Dancin' Outlaws with 5-2 Loss
|
The Victoria Vikings racked up a win at The drakkar, bumping off the West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws, 5-2. Juan Cruz, who started for Victoria, pitched effectively for his team. Cruz, now 7-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 2 earned runs. The Vikings have an impressive 62-39 record.
The Vikings grabbed the lead in the bottom of the third. With two out, Reggie Volkmann hit a 2-run home run off Luis Mena, putting Victoria in front, 3-2. For Volkmann, it was his 9th home run of the season.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Victoria manager Bernardo Moreno. "It's usually not just one thing."
