The Baltimore Blue Claws and Houston Sting played a tight game at Old Bay Park, with the hosts claiming the hard-fought win.

In a tight game between the Baltimore Blue Claws and the Houston Sting, pitcher Dan Miscavage was terrific on the mound. The Baltimore right-hander was named the player of the game in Baltimore's 3-1 win. The winner was Gabriel Pérez in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Jeff Van Wormer took the loss.

Kaoru Katsumata had a clutch at-bat with one out in the bottom of the seventh for the Blue Claws. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Baltimore trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run double.

"This team is on a mission," said Katsumata, who is one of the clubhouse leaders. "I like our focus."

The first-place Blue Claws, at 65-33, now lead their division by 8˝ games.
