Frosties Mow Down Saints, 9-3
|
Barrow second baseman Harlan Sanderson was a significant contributor in his team's 9-3 triumph over the St. Paul Saints. He was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs for Barrow. The winner was Cecilio Friuli, who threw 89 pitches over 5.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits. Javier García notched his 5th save in 5 chances.
The Frosties used some clutch hitting to beat the Saints, a good example being the at-bat of Juan Archuleta in the top of the sixth. With two down, Archuleta gave his team the lead, 2-1, when he hit a run-scoring single.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Barrow manager Corey Conway.
Barrow has a 3-game win streak, while St. Paul has lost 3 in a row.
