Cyclones Fall to Hornets, 4-2
|
The Bethesda Hornets reigned over the Coney Island Cyclones in damp conditions at Coney Island Coliseum.
The Coney Island Cyclones got a superb performance from pitcher António Domínguez, but the Bethesda Hornets still won the game, 4-2. Domínguez was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings of 2-hit ball. Rick Byrnes, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Cyclones to 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 3. Bruce Berardi got the save, his 1st in 2 chances.
Bethesda catcher Eduardo Rosário gave his club a productive at-bat in the top of the sixth inning. With a runner on 3rd and the Hornets trailing 2-1, Rosário hit a run-scoring single.
"We missed opportunities once again," said losing manager Gerald Pugh.
Coney Island has now lost 5 consecutive games.
