Thrilling Victory Pushes Jedi Knights Win Streak to 5
|
The New Orleans Jedi Knights did just enough to sneak past the San Angelo Mustangs, 6-5, at The Republic. New Orleans pitcher Hector Valencia earned player of the game honors. The win was José Martínez's in relief. His record improves to 4-0. Dan Garcia took the loss for San Angelo. The second-place Jedi Knights now have a 5-game winning streak.
When he came to bat in the bottom of the 14th, Toshifumi Kaneko had a chance to end it. San Angelo pitcher Dan Garcia had other ideas. But with no outs, Kaneko hit a sacrifice fly. The Jedi Knights had the win.
"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Mason Eilers, the New Orleans skipper.
