Black Squirrels Beat Sting, 6-4
|
The Tree City Black Squirrels and Houston Sting completed their game despite the rain.
The Tree City Black Squirrels stopped the Houston Sting, 6-4, at The Nut House. The Black Squirrels got a big game from Mark Southland, who was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Tree City reliever Rudy Cortez picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. José López absorbed the loss.
Tree City took control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Miguel Pacheco hit a run-scoring single to make it 5-4, Black Squirrels.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Tree City manager James Lee.
The Black Squirrels own a robust 60-35 mark.
