Bums Bump Off Bush Wackers, 5-2
|
The Palm Beach Bums knocked off the Brisbane Bush Wackers, 5-2, at Envoys Ballpark. Yoshimochi Takahashi, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Palm Beach won. The first baseman was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Ryan Wise recorded the save for Palm Beach, his 5th of the season. The Bums improved to 41-53.
Takahashi contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Palm Beach in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-1, Takahashi took a sinker from James Stevens and stroked the home run to left. His 9th home run of the season allowed the Bums to leap in front, 3-2.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Palm Beach manager Juan Carlos Serrano.
