The Chippewa River Chiefs topped the St. Paul Saints, 7-2, in Lyman Bostock League action at Saints Ballpark. The player of the game was Chippewa catcher Waylon Swerdlow. With the victory, the River Chiefs record now stands at 50-37.

A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the sixth inning when the River Chiefs sent teenager Alex Bahena to the plate against Saints hurler Roberto Saucedo. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a double off a 1-0 slider to score 2.

"We had a nice day," said Chippewa skipper Bruce Leah.
