Manuel Guzmán left his imprint on the 9-3 St. Petersburg win against the Stroudsburg Shade. Guzmán, who is tied for 9th in the AHL in stolen bases with 21, went 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The win was Eduardo Alaniz's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Willy Ortiz took the loss for Stroudsburg. The last-place Pelicans are now 35-52, the Shade 45-41.
Dan Stoner had a clutch at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for the Pelicans. Coming up with the bases loaded and St. Petersburg trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run double.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Stroudsburg manager Juan Rivera. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
