Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Vikings
|
The Vikings grabbed a win, 5-2, at The Republic, overcoming a fine effort from New Orleans pitcher Jesús Espinosa. Espinosa went 6 innings and allowed no earned runs. Victoria reliever Shane Jacobs picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Katsutaro Nishikawa took the loss. The Vikings own a robust 57-31 mark.
Both teams had trouble scoring runs. So, Will Otis's at-bat in the top of the eighth was huge. With two out, the Victoria designated hitter hit a run-scoring double, to give his team a 3-2 lead.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Otis told the Victoria Daily.
