Eugene used a superb performance from starting pitcher Hank Emmons to down the Bel Air Princes, 7-1. Emmons, the winner, moves to 2-7. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 2 walks. Fernando Guzmán got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Also having an impact was first baseman Jeff Fosbrink, who stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the first for Eugene. For the game, Fosbrink was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Eugene manager Tom Becker.
The 5th-place Emeralds lifted their record to 36-49.
