Mustangs Rally For 2-1 Win
|
In a tight battle between the San Angelo Mustangs and the Boise Bloodhounds, pitcher Oscar Mata was in the zone. The San Angelo right-hander was named the player of the game in San Angelo's 2-1 win. The winner was San Angelo reliever Tom Bowen, now 2-0. The loser was Marty Stephens. The Bloodhounds have now dropped 5 straight.
Both teams had trouble manufacturing runs. So, Kazuaki Kishi's at-bat in the top of the eighth was critical. With one out, the San Angelo third baseman hit a run-scoring single, to give his team a 2-1 lead.
"We scored one run," said Boise manager Nick Brown. "You're not gonna get a lot of Ws scoring just one run."
