Princes Pick Up 7-6 Win
|
Despite a great performance by Bethesda designated hitter Francisco Molina, the Bel Air Princes defeated the Hornets by the score of 7-6 at Philip Banks Field. Molina was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Bel Air reliever Jose Arguinzoni was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Zeke Barnes. Shayne Cluff earned the save for Bel Air, his 10th.
In the bottom of the 7th, designated hitter Pablo Cortez gave Bel Air the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Princes had been trailing 6-5, but the two-out single off Bethesda pitcher Gabriel Martínez changed that -- and Bel Air went on to win.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Cortez, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
Bel Air now sits in last place in the Donnie Moore League Tommy Lasorda Division at 31-50.
