Jeff Stephens pitched well, but the Chippewa River Chiefs still lost the game, falling 4-2 to the Houston Sting at The Reservation. The win was credited to Javier Martínez in relief. His record improves to 6-2. Jeff Stephens took the loss. The save was credited to Kenji Wada, his 3rd.

It could have been a different outcome for Houston, had it not been for Dusty Hicks, the 20-year old shortstop . Hicks contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Houston up, 4-2.

Chippewa manager Bruce Leah said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.

The Sting now own a record of 41-40.
