Victory Over Sting Takes Chippewa to 47-31
|
Chippewa played host to Houston at the friendly confines of The Reservation.
The Chippewa River Chiefs knocked off the Houston Sting, 5-1, at The Reservation. Elijah Brown, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Chippewa won. The first baseman went 2 for 2 with a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Chippewa reliever Danny Zafra picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Luis García was collared with the loss.
Chris Reddy aided the Chippewa cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the third. For the game, the designated hitter drew 1 walk in 4 trips to the plate.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Chippewa manager Bruce Leah.
Chippewa is now 47-31.
