Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Vikings
|
Tree City designated hitter Miguel Pacheco had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Pacheco was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once, even as Victoria beat the Black Squirrels, 6-5. Pacheco was named the player of the game despite the loss. Gang Niu, credited with the save, is now 24 for 26 in save opportunities. The Vikings own a robust 52-27 mark.
The most important at-bat for Victoria came in the top of the ninth inning, when pinch hitter Jian Gang Sato stroked a 0-2 fastball to left for a 2-run double, putting Victoria up, 6-5.
"We've got a great group of guys," Sato said, "and we're having fun right now."
