Don Wheeler pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Chippewa River Chiefs, despite Wheeler's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the Palm Beach Bums at Envoys Ballpark. The win was credited to Francisco Morales in relief. His record improves to 4-0. Don Wheeler took the loss. Palm Beach bumps their record to 38-40 with the win.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the ninth inning, but Eddy Aguilar didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 3rd and Chippewa trailing 3-1, Aguilar retired Terry Richardson to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Aguilar, with a wink.
