Emeralds Win 9-8 Walk-Off
The Eugene Emeralds gave their fans something to talk about with a thrilling, walk-off win.

The Eugene Emeralds beat the St. Petersburg Pelicans, 9-8 at Prefontaine Park, in part due to catcher Zhu Mar, who nabbed player of the game honors. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Eugene reliever Andy Ryan picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-4. Brad Leys was collared with the loss.

Jeff Fosbrink was the walk-off hero for Eugene. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Emeralds first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said St. Petersburg manager Clement Snow. "But we decided not to take it."

The Emeralds now have a record of 30-44 with the win over St. Petersburg.
